Robina Agri Partners, one of the country’s biggest agribusiness companies, met with other members of the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc., for the 20th National Convention last April 14-15 at the Baguio Country Club, Baguio City.
With a theme “Sa Matuwid Na Landas, Babuyan ay Uunlad”, the convention tackled some of the challenges that face the hog industry today. The first day featured talks by Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Batang Rep. Mark Llandro Mendoza and Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala. They discussed issues on raw materials and excessive importations in the country.
Meanwhile, the second day featured Customs Commissioner Angelito A. Alvarez as guest of honor. During his talk, he discussed how people could support local industries. He also affirmed his bureau’s commitment to catch revenue cheaters.
Members of the federation also hoped to improve their industry’s viability in order to help support their allied industries such as corn farming, fishing, coconut and sugar plantations, and the local veterinary drug companies.
Aside from the discussions, the two-day convention also featured exhibits and technical seminars from companies including Robina Agri Partners.
